Trust Your Intuition

People say all the time, "Trust your intuition." Do you ever really go through the feelings and allow yourself to trust that gut feeling? Or how about that feeling when you know for certain that something is meant for you? If you have ever had that feeling come over you - trust it!

The Julie House was on and off the market roughly 3 to 4 times by the previous owners. THREE to FOUR times, y'all! And each time that "for sale" sign went up in the yard, my heart sank...except for that last time. That last time I knew, knew, knew it was going to be the home for my family. I was certain.

I've known of this home for years. It is in my hometown and was owned by a dear friend of mine for a few years.

The first few times it went up for sale, it was never the right time for me and my husband to buy. We weren't even looking at houses, but the previous owner knew in her heart it was time for her family to move on - she just didn't know when that time would be or that she would sell to her friend!

So, on and off the market the house went. Put it on the market, show it to a few people, get overwhelmed by the details of selling, and then take it off market. Until that last time. That last final time she put it up for sale, her husband said, "The right family may not have been ready to buy the first three times, maybe this is their time." Boy was he right!

I will tell you, I knew in my heart that this was the house for us, but my husband needed time. I tried to convince him, but in the end, I decided to leave him alone to make his own decision. Taking on an old house isn't easy. We trusted our friends, but it IS an old house. Things are old. Things break. Updates are needed. Maintenance is required. The list goes on and on. We were living in a 2-bedroom, tiny starter home with just a small yard. The Julie House is a large and in-charge 2-story, 85-year-old beauty with SO much landscaping. It was a huge decision. I do not blame him for hesitating one bit.

In November of 2018, we bought The Julie House. We have our ups and downs with this house, just like any other old homeowner does, but she is ours and I love her. I am so thankful for the opportunity for me and my family to live here. We have already made so many special memories, and I look forward to so many more with this old house.
